I am an addict and fan of Nigeriannews online, first because its free
and also because I get a wide variety of reports and newspapers, and
frankly It is the number one way for people like me to keep up with
events in our beloved country, you are second to none. It is also
important to commend your neutrality in allowing everyone a fair ground
to express their views on issues concerning our nation, hopefully the (un)fortunate
ones ruling us will borrow some wisdom expressed here to perform the
duties they have sworn to do better accordingly. Moreover, I would like
to say if I control a medium like this, people like Engr. Astar Terver
would not have a voice, again that's where professionalism and ethics
comes into play, once again I commend you. Therefore sir, I am begging
for a fair space on your site to air my views in response to Engr.
Atsar Terver's report on the distinguished chairman of the EFCC Mallam
Nuhu Ribadu (my hero, in whom I am well pleased) titled WEEP NOT OVER
RIBADU.
With all due respect to you Engr. Atsar Terver, I bear no grudge
against you because you are who you are, there are always two sides to
a coin, good and evil, negative and positive, hot and cold and so on
but a pretty much suggest to so that you do the mirror test, the best
way of revealing to yourself who you really are. I would like to say
that I've been following nigeriannews online for a very long time now,
since I live in a foreign land for obvious reasons of course, maybe
It's also important to mention that in my thirty-four years of
existence, I've never written nor react to an article, but my anger
just keeps getting deeper and deeper everyday just as the hope of the
suffering, traumatized and extremely volatile ( because I see the way
we roar at each other at the slightest instance like hungry lions
hunting for food in the desert ) everyday people of our beloved country
is dashed, but what is more sad is the attitude of people like you that
indulges this vagabonds in power with your hypocrisy that will continue
to make our country inhabitable for us since you have chosen to use
your God ( perhaps devil? your choice ) given talent the negative way,
well just in case you are forgetting, you will have to give account
someday just like your mentors ( the v.i.ps ) you advocate for.
First, unlike you, I will like to mention that I am pro nobody, just
like the fine person that referred to you as 'STUPID', but maybe if we
all will be honest and objective in our judgment and evaluation of very
sensitive issues that borders the development of our beloved country,
we will begin to see positive changes. You made up a story in your
report that Atiku nominated Ribadu for his position which should make
him turn a blind eye to his diversion of public funds, but the fact is
that Ribadu was recommended by a distinguished AGF during Obasanjo's
administration. I would think Yaradua the self proclaimed
servant leader can if he indeed wants to serve find someone more
credible than Aondoakaa a paid solicitor/advocate of corrupt now ex-gorvernors
recommended to him for the position ( honestly my assumption judging
from the way events has played out ) by the same bad guys Ribadu is
trying to indict in the interest of the country and good precedence in
the person of Ibori and company who altogether has personal scores to
settle with Ribadu, bearing in mind that Aondoakaa the errand boy of
this crooks, being so 'STUPID' and clearly unintelligent started his
vendetta project from the very blast of the whistle, come on! he could
have at least been more tactical and patient. Clearly to everyone
except you Engr. Atsar? ( doubt if you are really an engineer ),
Dariye, Ibori, Alams, Fayose, Odili and twenty-five others whom a hero
with unprecedented guts in the person of Ribadu has concluded
investigations over, sponsored the self acclaimed due process man to
power through an (un)due process, yet they (and you) have the nerve to
talk about morals, God, what an insult on the intelligence of all well
meaning Nigerians. I know nothing about law, but it is common knowledge
in the maxims of equity that one who seeks equity must do equity and
also one who comes into equity must come with clean hands to mention a
few, you Engr. Terver (are you a Nigerian? I mean your name, because
that will tell me if you genuinely care about my country), Yaradua,
Aondoakaa, Ibori, Dariye, Alams and so on plus you all advocates of (un)''DUE''
process have failed in this regards, an area where Ribadu stands very
tall.
My country is very complex, we need our own special brand of democracy,
something similar to China with a fast-track economy that terrifies the
U.S.A, where corrupt leaders can be sentenced to death to deter others
(need I say they have a rapid growth to showcase for it) , or like
Russia's with iron hand against aristocrats and capitalists all in the
interest of the masses and the country as a whole which should
naturally always take priority, or something like the bravery of Hugo
Chavez in Venezuela. Need I also mention that the E.U countries have
their own brand which I would pick ahead that of the Americans. All in
all, this progressive economies have their unique ways of running their
nation to the benefit of the masses. In the west the justice system has
a tradition and they have come a very long way, that is, ''Innocent
until proven guilty'' because you cannot flee nor attempt to bribe
because everyone is watching. In our situation the entire scenario is
the reverse, that is ''guilty until proven Innocent'' because you can
bribe or even flee, which most of our ''v.i.ps'' are shamelessly
good at doing, reason why even while I'm not in support of some of
Obasanjo's policies and double standard in some cases, he did very well
in trying to fashion our own brand of democracy and the near full
autonomy he gave to Ribadu to carry out his duties, hence the Nigerian
style with which he dealt with Tafa, Alams and some 419ers sitting in
our parliament making laws for us, how ridiculous can things get for
us?. In the end, It was all result oriented as it sent cold shivers
down the spines of intending and corrupt leaders knowing what fate
would befall them when they leave office. If only things were allowed
to continue with our own Nigerian style justice, we could be somewhere
right now. So after eight years of no business as usual Mr. Yaradua is
taking us backwards, I can guess Obasanjo is not resting in his farm as
he envisaged because I don't think Yaradua has turned out to be the
person he thought he was, he is clearly deceptive.
Finally, Obasanjo clearly prevented Ribadu from prosecuting some of his
buddies, Ribadu never minced words over that even while the later was
still in power, If I can remind you about he tried to go after Adedibu
and his crew with their antics in Oyo
state, also with his summon to the NASS over the list of corrupt
officers recommended to INEC for ban in most level of office in the
last election, In which he he reported to NASS that the list had been
doctored by Obasanjo who had the final say back then. It is also worthy
to note that Ribadu being someone on a genuine mission did not give up
on his goal, but waited for Obasanjo to leave and continued working
down the list. Therefore, If Ribadu has gone against Obasanjo whom Engr.
Terver, Alams, Dariye and company says he works for and has also gone
against Yaradua, Atiku, Aondoakaa, 419ers, Babangida and all the powers
that be, maybe it will be noteworthy to pop this million dollar
question - Who does Ribadu work for??????
In my opinion, he is God sent, he works for and the suffering masses of
my beloved country, he works for people like Gani, Tunde Idiagbon,
Buhari, Wole Soyinka, Obafemi Awolowo, Tafawa Balewa, Murtala Mohammed,
June 12, plus everyone that shares the same virtues and Ideals that all
these people and event represents. He also works for his conscience,
something most of our leaders and Engr. Terver does not have and he
does It consciously being guided by the maxims of equity, he is
incorruptible and perfect because he is human. My final word is a brief
ono on one for Ribadu; do not allow yourself to be humiliated by this
present government, It clearly will be Impossible for you to carry on
in the wake of this overwhelming adversity that confronts you, you have
contributed your quota, he who fights and runaway lives to fight
another day.
Your analysis of Yaradua's Government was very incisive and thorough.
You simply echoed all my thoughts with the exception of one. viz.
There is and will be no difference between this Government and that of
Shehu Shagari.(Apart from circumstances occassioned by the different
times or eras)
