Happy New Year and Welcome 2007, a year of decisions!

Happy New Year and Welcome 2007, a year of decisions!
NigerianNews Editorial

Again, what a year! Year 2006 was marked with mixed occurrences in our dear country. To some again, it was a totally bad year of presidential rapacity and/or vice presidential obfuscation and lack of honor, and to others it was a mixed bag of both!! We ask again; What is in a year after all if not for the apparent relativity of its contents? To us at the NigerianNews, just as we did last year, we choose to look and enjoy the good part of year 2006 in the absolute sense, hoping the rapacity, obfuscation and lack of honor never again visit our shore in 2007.

Our first resolution at the NigerianNews is simply the same as last year. As we have always said about ourselves, it is lack of knowledge that makes life look relativistic in nature. Given an absolute acquisition of knowledge we are asserting that we will wind up with a world full of knowledgeable people in the fashion of absolute knowledge itself. Therefore, our wish for our readers this year 2007 are as follows:

  1. Seek your own knowledge in its absoluteness. Do not let these so-called leaders with their so-called academic degrees or even ill acquired riches be your soul source of information. Remember they are not any more knowledgeable than their academic discipline or ill gotten riches. Assert your native intelligence which is by far more superior than the narrow confines of their academic qualifications. If you do not believe us, see where their academic qualifications have led us!

  2. Total adherence to the chivalry code of what a Knight and even an ordinary man who loves his or her country should follow. To this end, we hope every politician and none politician will print this code by clicking here if you have not done so previously.

  3. Assuming you print the code of Chivalry, you will be able to see the destruction a single man who deviates from this code can do to our country. No matter how well meaning you are, honor is more important than your so called good intention. So seek honor in 2007.

  4. If a constitution says a President must have his Vice President from his own party, that seems to make sense to us at the NigerianNews, for a President gets elected based on his programs, and his Vice President, once he feels he can no longer respect the programs or their prosecution, Code of Chivalry dictates that this Vice President quits without even belaboring the constitution which to us at the NigerianNews seems very clear, unless the intention of the constitution is to at a future date allows an aberrant Vice President to throw the country into mayhem.

  5. If anyone confronts you with a list of impeachable offences in 2007 prior to the election in April, be suspicious of that person. Let these people know that Nigeria is bigger and greater than personal ambition of individuals. Let them know that your wish is to get rid of all of them in the 2007 election with a clean slate, ushering in clean people of God in their place.

  6. Our resolution also includes staying away from SANs, for they cost too much at N10m a piece! It is our believe most of the problems in Nigeria today are caused by these set of super human Nigerians. Only a rich man can afford 13 SANs at a time, or maybe a president with the resources of the state. This brings us to the following section of the Nigerian Constitution:

    142. (1) In any election to which the foregoing provisions of this Part of this Chapter relate, a candidate for an election to the office of President shall not be deemed to be validly nominated unless he nominates another candidate as his associate from the same political party for his running for the office of President, who is to occupy the office of Vice-President and that candidate shall be deemed to have been duly elected to the office of Vice-President if the candidate for an election to the office of President who nominated him as such associate is duly elected as President in accordance with the provisions aforesaid.

Are the Atiku protagonists really saying that this part of the constitution ends at the end of nomination? If so, and if a honorable Knight can after election decide to join another political party with different manifestoes, how does the president proceed with his original mission? Or we must just let Atiku be, because he is Atiku, or let Obasanjo wallow in his mischoice because we don't like him?

If the SANs stop working for the money for a minute, can they then see the damage they are doing to the country? If the 13 Atiku SANs win, will there not be an immediate need for the amendment of this part of the constitution because of the inconsistency it incubates, or it is just a one time misapplication? If we let the application be the way a non-SAN think it is, can we not then say that although the Vice President has not tender an explicit resignation, however his nomination as the Presidential candidate of the AC has actually provided a rendering of an implicit resignation? For his acceptance is an implicit and tacit act of resignation as the Vice President if 142(1) is not to be contradicted.

If the Vice President has implicitly resigned, what then do we say about:

146(3) Where the office of Vice-President becomes vacant:-

    (a) by reason of death or resignation, impeachment, permanent incapacity or removal in accordance with section 143 or 144 of this Constitution;

    (b) by his assumption of the office of President in accordance with subsection (1) of this section; or

    (c) for any other reason,

the President shall nominate and, with the approval of each House of the National Assembly, appoint a new Vice-President.

We know Atiku is still alive, has not been impeached and he is not permanently incapacitated and we know that 143 and 144 are not applicable in this instance, so only 146(3)(a) RESIGNATION (in this case implied by 142(1)) and if he contests Implicit Resignation, then 146(3)(c) "for any other reason", let a good patriot tell this VP that this "any other reason" is 142(1).

We believe, Atiku has implicitly resigned by violating 142(1) above, and the president has also acted correctly by acknowledging his Vice president's resignation. In our opinion, the implicit resignation makes 146(3)(a) applicable in addition to 142(3)(c) which if the National assembly is not in the pocket of the Vice president will just have to perfunctorily approve a new Vice Presidential nominee. However, we understand those "Knight" politicians defeated in the primaries are now spoiling for the settling of the scores stemming from the primaries. You can see these National Assembly people may have to read the honor involved in the code of Chivalry.

NO, in this instance, IMPEACHMENT is NOT what the constitution calls for in removing this VP who Chief Gani Fawehinmi and Mr. Agbakoba have described as dishonorable, however, IMPLICIT or EXPLICIT RESIGNATION 146(3)(a) or "FOR ANY OTHER REASON 146(3)(c)" is! The President needs not seek an impeachment, however, he needs to submit a new name to the National Assembly as required in a NON IMPEACHMENT situation. If the National Assembly people fail to approve the new nominee, Nigerian nation will not fall apart if there is no Vice President for 5 months.

At any rate, the SANs have their ways, the courts, which we cannot trust have the case. It is a laugh to the banks all the way by our prestigious SANs on both sides.

  7. Be resolute with your votes! It is obvious those who were in PDP while the election was purportedly rigged by PDP in 2003 are now in AC - PDP second eleven or is it disgruntled PDP? If AC tells you about PDP being party of riggers, just tell them "you too" Read the words of Ogbe, Atiku, and Solomon Lar while they were still in PDP, you will know what we mean. Nigerian politicians are equal opportunity riggers, so do not base your vote on what they tell you but on issues. Do your own homework for it is about your future. Because a candidate belongs to any of these 2 parties or any other party should not be a reason for that candidate to be ignored, look at the total being of this candidate apart from his party. A man of God if nothing else, has conscience, and a man of conscience is what should be of interest to you.

  8. Last year, we asked that you beware of the so-called good journalists, this year, we maintain the same warning! In our political space, journalists are like prostitutes. Some sacrificed their conscience at the alter of financial remunerations. Some are outright cowards who change their minds once their friends show their disapproval.

Most of our journalists who cannot be bought are either spineless or accomplices in dastardly acts. So in 2007, do not take the words of any journalist, including NigerianNews for it. Do your own homework.

  9. It does not matter whether the EFCC only prosecutes the enemies of the President, what matters is that EFCC should NOT prosecute innocent people. If all they can get are enemies of this president who are not innocent, another president will come in to complete the job by prosecuting the friends of this president who are not innocent. Good job Ribadu, so far so good!!!

  10. Finally, do not let your access to God be through your pastors or mullahs in 2007, for the Almighty God loves you more when you reach Him by yourself. Remember Pastors or Mullahs make use of their five senses (which make them souls) just like you. However, all physical things like the five senses are subject to deterioration. So, if you allow anybody to carry your message to God for you, you stand a risk of this person's senses not comprehending your need even as accurately as you deliver it to them. So, go for it yourself. To God, there is NO special crown prince, we all are special to Him, and He is eager to hear our voices in SPIRIT which can only be attained through the TRUTH. Sinners, Saints, Christians and Moslems who reach out to Him in Truth shall attain the SPIRITUALITY which will get them into His presence. Remember LIARS have NO chance of getting to HIM.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL AND WELCOME YEAR 2007.
