  • Amaechi vs. Omehia: And the Reasoning please?
    January 24, 2008
Anyone who read our article on the Amaechi vs. Omehia titled The Supreme Court: Supreme in all things but Remedy! will in no doubt notice that our bone of contention with the Supreme Court was never about the conclusion they reached. Our problem has always been the remedy they fashioned to compensate the winning side in this case, Amaechi.

  • Happy New Year and Welcome 2008!
    January 01, 2008
NigerianNews takes this opportunity to felicitate with everyone as the year 2008 rolls in. Indeed, Nigeria is a country which God has bestowed with enough resilience to weather any storm. 2007 was such a turbulent year which some would have either wished it never existed or certain events never occurred. All the same, all our experience is supposed to strengthen us with sufficient energy so that we can witness the fulfillment of things yet to be revealed to us as a Nation by the Almighty God. • Removal of Ribadu: The Triumph of Aondoakaa and his Ruse of Law
    December 31, 2007
While the plot was being hatched, those who now cry foul on the removal of Nuhu Ribadu were busy celebrating the demise of the previous government. While the celebration went on, the evil geniuses in our midst were busy perfecting their next move of their escape from Alcatraz! NigerianNews Editorial

  • The Supreme Court: Supreme in all things but Remedy!
    October 29, 2007
We must first congratulate this Supreme Court for they have done it again! We congratulate you for your consistent inconsistencies. We congratulate you for consistently turning the face of logic upside down to the applause of those who should know better. If your inconsistencies are not embarrassing, we would  have also congratulated you on your undemocratic imposition of Rotimi Amaechi who was never voted for by the people of Rivers State. This is a first in the annals of representative democracy!! NigerianNews Editorial

  • In this theatre of the absurd, Aondoakaa stands out.
    September 20, 2007
While the theatre of the absurd has begun to witness a resurgence in the newly inaugurated presidency of Musa Yar'Adua, it is amazing that the prominent actors are those who secretly sought the head of this president while he was still the PDP presidential candidate. That was then. This is now. And the self-promoters, the uncouth and the moles planted by the crooked have surreptitiously and stealthily taken over! NigerianNews Editorial

    July 24, 2007
That Chief Gani Fawehinmi pursues justice with fervor is by now no news to anyone who loves justice tendered with mercy. It is this fervor that brought him to repudiate and prosecute the apparent reinforcement of that part of George Orwell's Animal Farm that redefined its original proclamation of equality among animals.. • This Lai Mohammed and his vilification of Chief Gani Fawehinmi
    June 25, 2007
If we understand Chief Gani Fawehinmi and his thoughts on Peter Obi's Supreme Court judgment correctly, it can be said the Chief was only worried about jurisdiction and its attendant consequential remedy stemming from this judgment. We were rooting for Gov. Peter Obi here at the NigerianNews at the beginning, middle and the end of this saga, but as patriots, NigerianNews was also worried about the remedy for this serious injustice against an innocent man. • The Terms of the Nigerian Political Offices are scalar and not vector quantities!
    June 15, 2007
The Supreme Court by granting Governor Obi of Anambra an extension is expressly stating that the terms of the Nigerian political offices cannot be considered a vector quantity as the value of the office longevity can only be characterized in a scalar term. For those who may want to know, all vector or tensor quantities will retain their values in any assigned frame of reference (either in a covariant or contravariant tensoral transformation). A tensor or vector quantity must have magnitude and direction, because of this, if for example the position of a governor is given a vectoral value of four years, this value will remain same if evaluated in an interstellar space. Of course, like velocity, a vector may be considered not to be an objective vector. NigerianNews Editorial

  • NBA call for court boycott, hypocrisy and the equal opportunity riggers
    May 14, 2007
We highly respect Chief Gani Fawehinmi at the NigerianNews, however, if the lawyers and the Judges were to go on strike on cases that they may have to handle by taking position a priori, what is the point filing election petition either way? Is it not better that other organization but not the officers of the law be the organizers of strike? What happens to the word "sub judice" especially when the officers of the law are the ones violating the principle? NigerianNews Editorial

    April 04, 2007
It is with sadness we embark on this article. • This amazing 2006 Census!
    January 11, 2007
We have always told whoever has ears to hear that our Northern compatriots are always all ears! While we gang together helping them to uphold what we think is the right thing to do on the "Third term" and the Obasanjo/Atiku imbroglio, our Northern compatriots are busy addressing the possible repercussion of the 2006 census! Why not, the tactics has worked since Lugard's amalgamation of Southern and Northern Nigeria; it worked during the much to do about nothing "Third Term" The North knew during the so-called "Third term" there was no way in hell this "Third term" would pass, of course, they are better thinkers, so they crave the diversion. • Happy New Year and Welcome 2007, a year of decisions!
    January 01, 2007
Again, what a year! Year 2006 was marked with mixed occurrences in our dear country. To some again, it was a totally bad year of presidential rapacity and/or vice presidential obfuscation and lack of honour, and to others it was a mixed bag of both!! • May the unbiazed judge interpret 142(1) and 146(3)(c) of the 1999 constitution?
    December 24, 2006
A VP is a product of party selection in a convention where the presidential candidate is ELECTED and not SELECTED. In other words, Yar'Adua and Buhari were ELECTED recently by their various party conventions, and then Yar'Adua SELECTED Goodluck Jonathan, while Buhari SELECTED Ume Ezeoke. Is this a paradox? We don't think so! NigerianNews Editorial | Related Issue

  • Where is the Emergency?
    October 25, 2006
The toothless bulldog, otherwise known as the National Assembly or the impeachable offence enumerator, now has an opportunity to face the job of the nation with malice to No one! When the State of Emergency in Ekiti comes for debate tomorrow, the question to ask the sender is; where is this emergency? Does an elected democrat sack another elected democrat unless on a serious ground? We are afraid our brothers and sisters in the National Assembly will either pass the bucks at the end of this important debate by assigning the blame on someone else or just consign the Ekiti anomaly as one of those impeachable offences which at the last count would be numbered 129 ( or is it 130?)

    September 12, 2005
The Guardian story of September 11, 2005 on Muyiwa was first reported by Daily Sun in a very timid way on September 09, 2005. We say timid because the most important caption was left for the inside story and an obscure caption for the cover page. • The President and the Spare
    September 10, 2005
From what we know of Atiku, some swear by God that he is a nice man, and we agree. However, this is not about a nice versus bad man but about the stability of our institution and country. A good Vice President makes the job of his boss easier by constant support of the policy for which they have been elected. When support becomes impossible, and in the interest of the nation, a "nice" Vice President resigns, freeing himself from the "immorality" of his boss. This "nice" Vice President has not done that.
