Alao-Akala And Awo's Statue
Otunba Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala,
civilian governor of Oyo State, has triggered a new round of
controversy for his government as well as provoked Awoists everywhere
with his latest act of:re-erecting an earlier-demolished statue of the
'Unknown Soldier' in front of Government House in Ibadan.
The Guardian Editorial
NigerianNews
Side bar: Alao-Akala does not know a General when he sees
one, talk less of an unknown soldier! However, the good people of Oyo
State do know their General, and the Election Tribunal yet to declare
its verdict in Oyo State should also take note. Get this rascal out,
and let him compete in a new unrigged election. That way, he will find
out who the real unknown soldier is. The new election, if unrigged by
his Molete god-father thug, will show this ignorant governor that the
soldier unknown to him is actually Chief Obafemi Awolowo!!

Happy New Year and Welcome 2008! January 01, 2008
NigerianNews
takes this opportunity to felicitate with everyone as the year 2008
rolls in. Indeed, Nigeria is a country which God has bestowed with
enough resilience to weather any storm! 2007 was such a
turbulent year which some would have either wished it never existed or
certain events never occurred. All the same, all our experience is
supposed to strengthen us with sufficient energy so that we can witness
the fulfillment of things yet to be revealed to us as a Nation by the
Almighty God.

again! We congratulate you for your consistent inconsistencies. We
congratulate you for consistently turning the face of logic upside
down to the applause of those who should know better. If your
inconsistencies are not embarrassing, we would have also
congratulated you on your undemocratic imposition of Rotimi Amaechi
who was never voted for by the people of Rivers State. This is a first

Current Column Saudi Arabia: Where rape victim is jailed and lashed!
by Tunde Adenodi. January 05, 2008
It happened not long ago in Kano? Hawa, I
believe the name was, had a fling. She became pregnant. A regular
secular court would think that a man would not be too far from the
scene of this “crime”. Not so for Sharia court! She was prosecuted
for adultery and was to suffer jail term; but for the intervention
of the international community and some Nigerian human rights
lawyers. As for Hawa’s baby’s father, he was left off the hook.NigerianNews Special |

What if Ribadu’s Reputation
has been compromised like Obasanjo’s?
by Frisky Larr January
10, 2008
The
saying “What the eye doesn’t see, the heart doesn’t grieve over” is an
old saying of the wise in English language. In routine usage it is in
common circulation amongst lovers in the nest of emotional
interaction. As long as a lover is not aware that he or she is being
cheated upon by the counterpart, the heart would not grieve.
Therefore, most lovers would just not want to know as long as the
feeling of love remains true to its nature of barren purity.

The Ribadu Controversy:
Early steps at Damage Control?
by Frisky Larr January
04, 2008
The
worldwide web today has no doubt enhanced the dawn of a new awareness
in the flow of information. Everyone now has his say, who can pick a
keyboard to piece his/her thoughts together in a prosy narrative.
Hobby commentators and self-styled political observers abound and most
often than not, add their spices to the brewing potion of public
controversies. This is precisely the case in the Nuhu Ribadu
controversy. Armchair quarterbackers will always be up against public
outcry and the basic call to wisdom.

WEEP NOT OVER RIBADU
by Atsar Terver
January
04, 2008 One of the hazards of writing especially over public issues is
that at any point in time you stand between the devil and the deep
blue sea. A good chunk of your readers are bound to disagree with
your viewpoint while others agree. And sometimes it takes courage

KEBBI Election:

by Sani Onyedikachi Obi
November 06, 2007
If the title of my piece is perceived as inappropriate or most
uncharitable in certain quarters, then I must begin by tendering my
most sincere regrets as it is certainly not aimed at casting aspersion
on the competencies, integrity or judicial discretion of the learned
counsels or distinguished members of the Kebbi State election
Tribunal. I must also confess my utter ‘unlearnedness’ in comparison
to the eminent jurists who delivered the rather incredible ruling of
20th October, 2007 that annuled the April 2007 Kebbi State
